You're not the only one who's bound to be fighting back the tears on your wedding day. No, we're not talking about your soon-to-be spouse, but rather the man who's been there from the start—your dear old dad. From the walk down the aisle, to the father-daughter dance, to waving goodbye as you and your new spouse drive off into the sunset, these monumental wedding day moments between a father and his daughter are bound to stir up a bevy of emotions, such as love, pride, and maybe even a little sadness. Just ask these dads who, in celebration of Father's Day, chatted with us about their daughter's special day.
If you hadn't already called your dad to wish him a happy Father's Day, this video will have you reaching for the phone. In fact, we bet you'll be forwarding it to your pops (he's computer savvy, right?) so he can watch for himself and prepare for that big, emotional day ahead of both of you.
Dad definitely would benefit from hearing from Mohamed, who managed to stay calm, cool, and collected while walking his daughter Sarah down the aisle. "I did not worry about walking my daughter down the aisle," remembers Mohamed. "I whispered in her ear and said, 'I hope you and Patrick love each other as much as your mom and I love you.'"
Ken on the other hand had a few worries—and a few jokes. "My biggest worries in walking my daughter Katelyn down the aisle were really quite simple," says Ken. "The first one was that I wouldn't step on her wedding dress train." (A legitimate concern, TBH.) "The other concern I had was that there were three of us and it was a narrow wedding lane," he explains. "Although I was on the right side, so most of the people I hit into and brushed into were on the groom's side. So I guess it's OK." OMG, KEN!
Meanwhile, Steven couldn't help but get emotional while walking his daughter, Mary, down the aisle. "I did have tears—a few tears—walking down the aisle," recalls Steven. "I wasn't sad at all. I was just so proud to be her father."
If you're blubbering already, just imagine how special your own walk down the aisle with dad will be! Better pack the waterproof mascara...
