Miley Cyrus is no longer "Miley Cyrus." The new Mrs. Hesmworth has officially traded her last name for her husband's, and the story behind it—like everything these two do—is absolutely adorable.
Liam Hemsworth appeared on a recent episode of Live With Kelly and Ryan, and the duo asked him about how his first month of marriage was going with Miley Cyrus. He took the opportunity to correct them, and deliver the news that former Miss Cyrus has gotten a new name. "Miley Ray Hemsworth now, actually," he said, per Cosmopolitan, noting that the decision to take on "Hemsworth" was all her own. "She will still be obviously known as Miley Cyrus, but she took my name, which is great. That was honestly one of the best things about it. I didn't ask her to take my name, but she was like, 'No, of course I'm taking your name.'"
The couple wed in December in an intimate ceremony surrounded by their families, and celebrated after the fact with a ski trip (which may or may not have been their honeymoon). In addition to getting used to his wife's new name, Liam admits he is also adjusting to one other part of married life: Calling Miley his wife. "It's become a little more normal, but the first couple of weeks it was... I mean, it's only been a month and a half," he said. "But the first couple of weeks was really foreign to me, with 'wife' and 'husband.'" Understandable, considering they were on-and-off as "boyfriend" and "girlfriend" and "fiancé" for 10 years before official tying the knot.
An easy trick he's figured out to regularly remind himself of his updated marital status? "I just have her in as 'Wife' in my phone now."
And, as far as whether or not he's enjoying marriage thus far, the answer seems to be a resounding "yes." "The husband and wife thing, it's great," he told E! News on the red carpet at the G'Day USA awards. "I'm loving it. I'm really, really happy and grateful to be in the position I'm in."
